It still amazes me how much better I feel when I have an adequate amount of greens in my diet.
I can tell almost instantly when I haven’t had enough because I feel sluggish, tired, and grumpy.
Yesterday for instance was one of those days.
My home was threatened by a wildfire over the last week and my eating routines got a little wacky to say the least. I realized it yesterday when my energy was none existent…I hadn’t had a decent salad or a good hearty green smoothie in at least a week and my sleep was very inconsistent as well.
I took 3 naps that day.
They were absolutely wonderful, but being productive is more my thing.
So I fixed that!
And man oh man do I feel a thousand times better. I slept like a rock last night, my mood is back to my happy go lucky self, my energy is skyrocketing and I am getting so much done today!!!

When I am on my ‘routine’ ( I really don’t have a set routine, I just go with my flow and do what feels best in the moment, while remembering certain things like eating enough greens, exercising my body, drinking plenty of water, and getting enough rest, are what make me feel the best) I tend to make a decent green smoothie every morning.
This one is pretty typical for me. I always have bananas in the freezer along with mango and blueberries. The carrot turmeric juice and mushroom powder are newer for me – I love them by the way – but I do not always add them.
Here are your ingredients ↓
The mason jar has Maca Powder (mushroom blend on top of that ) and the little jar in front of that is Ashwagandha powder.
I add Maca Powder in almost all of my smoothies. I have found it to be great for:
boosting my energy
balancing my hormones
enhancing my mental clarity
I add Ashwagandha Powder to almost all of my smoothies. I like it because it:
reduces stress and anxiety
improves my brain health
boosts my immunity and energy
One thing I’d like to bring some light to is that it is so important to be intuitive and listen to your body. No matter how badly I wanted to be productive on my low energy day I listened to my body and slept instead along with giving it the nutrition I new I had been short on.
If I had powered through it – yes I would have accomplished a few things, but with almost certainly I would probably have to go back the next day and fix them, or wouldn’t feel good about what I accomplished anyway. Being spacey or grumpy or tired does not make for good work. And in turn makes for MORE work for yourself later on.
Sleep when your tired and work when you feel productive. It sounds so simple but no one does it!!!
Yes we all have a life and things need to get done…but lets ‘work smarter – not harder’
Giving myself that full day of naps and doing nothing but nourishing myself allowed me the ability to feel like I was extra productive the following day. I gave my body the rest it wanted….and like magic it returned the favor with being full of energy and inspiration the following day.
If I hadn’t listened and ‘powered through’ I would have been sluggish again the next day and probably again the day after that getting myself stuck in that cycle.
So please – listen to your body. It knows what is best and it will return the favor three fold to you when you do. Just try it once – it can be hard to wrap your mind around and get yourself to actually do it…I struggled with it the other day – but try it once and see how it works for you…and I promise you will listen then on out 🙂
Ingredients / Directions:
1/2 cup Carrot Juice Blend
2 big kale leaves
1 Tbsp Cacao Powder
1/2 cup frozen wild blueberries
1 cup frozen cubed mango
1/2 an avocado
1 cup frozen banana chunks
1/4 tsp mushroom powder ( optional but wonderful )
1/2 tsp maca powder ( optional but wonderful )
1/8 tsp ashwagandha powder ( optional but wonderful )
***I use a Vitamix Blender – it gives the creamiest texture I have found so far.
